The School of Health Sciences<\/strong> consists of six departments, listed alphabetically:<\/p>\n

  1. Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology<\/strong> (Larissa)<\/li>\n
  2. Department of Public and One Health<\/strong> (Karditsa)<\/li>\n
  3. Department of Medicine<\/strong> (Larissa)<\/li>\n
  4. Department of Veterinary Medicine<\/strong> (Karditsa)<\/li>\n
  5. Department of Nursing<\/strong> (Larissa)<\/li>\n
  6. Department of Physiotherapy<\/strong> (Lamia)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Department of Public and One Health<\/strong> at the University of Thessaly<\/strong> was established in 2019<\/strong> (Government Gazette Issue 13\/29-01-2019<\/em>) and is based in Karditsa<\/strong>. Other departments located in Karditsa include:<\/p>\n

    • The Department of Veterinary Medicine<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • The Department of Food Science and Nutrition<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • The Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences, and Design<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Graduates of the Department of Public and One Health<\/strong> gain the necessary knowledge and skills to:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Control endemic diseases<\/li>\n
      • Design and implement successful prevention campaigns (e.g., for depression, cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, accidents, etc.)<\/li>\n
      • Manage crises and develop measures to prevent and respond to natural disasters<\/li>\n
      • Oversee healthcare services and manage population health by optimizing resource allocation<\/li>\n
      • Evaluate zoonotic risks – diseases transmitted from animals and food to humans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        The four-year interdisciplinary education<\/strong> in risk assessment and management related to human, animal, and environmental health<\/strong> leads to a Level 6 degree<\/strong> under the National Qualifications Framework<\/strong>. Graduates can pursue careers as scientific, administrative, and educational professionals in Public Health<\/strong>, working across various fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
